Welcome to the Learning Center!
St. Francis Catholic School's Learning Center is dedicated to helping each child reach his or her academic potential. Sometimes students need specific, tailored strategies and more individualized attention to help them succeed at school and sometimes they need academic enrichment to allow them to progress on an accelerated level according to their capabilities. Whatever the need, the staff of the Learning Center stands ready to help your child succeed.
The staff consists of a Director, who is a Reading Specialist, an Academic Assistant trained in key intervention strategies, as well as several trained volunteers. The Learning Center offers assistance in all core academic subjects, with the focus that reading proficiency is the basis of success in all content areas. The Reading Specialist collaborates with teachers and administrators to identify students who could benefit from specific instructional strategies and accommodations. Support programs are then developed and implemented for your child. Your child’s progress is documented and shared with you, as well as your child’s teacher, several times during the year. In consultation with you, the Learning Center will also communicate with outside agencies, such as the public school district and professionals who deal with educational evaluation, testing, and support services, if beneficial for your child’s progress.
