Activities Overview
Student Activities
Faith Activities
Our students have a number of ways to exercise their faith each day, but particularly during the seasons and feast days during which the Church encourages us to pray and grow.
We nurture our faith in God and our communion with one another by praying together: we celebrate Mass together as a school every week, we begin and end the school day in prayer, and each class begins with prayer.
Service Activities
The Students of St. Francis Catholic School love to serve. God has blessed us abundantly, and we love to share his love with each other, our parish, the community we live in, and the wider world. Our regular "Spirit Days" are opportunities to share what we have with others who are in need, and the students often start new initiatives after identifying real needs. Our students have recently served hurricane victims, foster children, orphans in Haiti and Guatemala, elderly shut-ins, expectant mothers, and many, many more.
Fellowship Activities
St. Francis students are friendly and active! Aside from opportunities throughout the year for bursts of fun, such as the Pottery Jam, Breakfast with Santa, and the Talent Show, our students get together outside of class to learn and grow together. Chess Club, Baking Club, Garden Club, and Choir are a few of the most popular. That list will grow, however, each time a group of students shows the interest and inititive to form a new club or group.
Family Activities
Faith Activities
Parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith, and our faculty cooperates as much as possible with our school parents in making the story of Jesus the integral focus of our students' lives.
The Family Faith Formation committee provides resources to help our families "pray their way" through the liturgical year, and we're always looking for good ways to nourish our parents in the faith they're sharing with their children. We have the monthly Sunday Family Mass, Lenten Bible study, retreats, the parish chalice program, and seasonal prayer traditions we encourage our parents to pray with their children.
Join us outside the multi-purpose facility for Parents in Prayer each Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. We meet to pray for our children, our teachers, our families and our community. It's ten minutes well-spent as you begin your day.
Fundraising/Service Activities
Families often join in the service activities of the students, such as Box of Joy, Spirit Night, and community donation opportunities. In addition to these, our parents put the fun in fundraising with our annual Gala.
Click the Family Activities link in the sidebar to get more information about some of the ways you can help the school provide a first-class education for your child, including several School Partner programs that kick a few of your shopping dollars back to the school.
Fellowship Activities
St. Francis families have fun together! The Fall Fellowship Carnival, St. Patrick's Day Parade, Parish Picnic, Grandparents' Day, Potlucks and even kickball games are just a few of the ways our families gather to build joy-filled lives together. Keep up with past and future events on our parents-only Facebook page. (From the page: "This group is for St. Francis Catholic School parents, currently enrolled, so we can share information and fun news, support each other, request help and prayers, and continue to make this the best school and community for our children!")
